GSF Sent For the Nines – or Not?

Yesterday marked a momentous decision for our city of Los Santos. After weeks of chaos, many well known GSF members of Forum Drive were put behind bars.

After weeks of constant shootouts robberies and assault on LSPD officers, GSF members were finally caught and placed under arrest. After a short time, it was announced that GSF members, Adrian “AJ” Jordan, Tyrone “TD” Davis, Jay Jackson, and Charlie Wright would be sent to Bolingbrook for the nines.

This would be the first occasion that the majority of a Southside gang would be sent to prison for life. Not only does this change the lives of the individuals in jail, but it changes the culture of our city.

The main question now is, does prison truly rehabilitate an individual? Will Bolingbrook shape the lives of those inside and change them for the better or will they keep to their old ways and continue an illegal lifestyle if released. There have already been various situations with the GSF members in Bolingbrook attacking police officers. This doesn’t bode well with the possible release of the inmates as good behavior is one of the benchmarks that probation officers look for.

Our Reporter, Mia Dodson, traveled to Bolingbrook Penitentiary to speak with one inmate known on the street as “AJ”. Adrian Jordan was sentenced to prison for his continued assault on police officers with illegal weapons. We asked AJ about this and his comment was:

“I was shown the video and I was nowhere to be seen…this is insufficient evidence…I got an officer that said it was insufficient evidence.”

AJ plans to take this matter to court to appeal his sentencing and also plans to represent himself instead of hiring a lawyer. It is clear that Mr. Jordan is adamant about getting these charges removed and getting out of Bolingbrook.

After talking to AJ a bit further, he claims to be “self-rehabilitated” and now believes in god. He stated that his time spent in prison so far has changed him and he is a “new man”.  When asked about what he planned to do with his life if he were to be released from prison, AJ shared the plans of his new future:

“I am retiring from all the gang banging and sh*t…I’m just going to chill. I ain’t gonna do crime, I’m just gonna chill on my block and get a job.”

We spoke further with AJ about what possible job opportunities he may seek out and he explained that he plans to be a street vendor and sell burgers and tacos. Adrian continues to pray to god that he will be out of jail soon because he “didn’t do anything wrong”.

Toward the end of the conversation Adrian went as far to say that he has laid down his colors for GSF and is no longer a part of the gang life.

Weazel news then decided to travel to MRPD to seek out an officer that had been involved with AJ’s arrest. We were able to stop and speak with Deputy Chief Buckberry about the situation and get his thoughts. Deputy Chief Buckberry was asked about his feelings on GSF members being sent to prison for life. He stated:

“I personally, personally think they deserve 400-500 months for their crimes. I don’t believe they should be put in the for nines, maybe 600 months – yah know something crazy. That should teach them a lesson. I do believe in prison reform.”

Deputy Chief of Police, Bubba Buckberry

After mentioning the fact that AJ has claimed to put down his colors, Buckberry responded saying:

“I believe in the reform in the justice system and I believe that shows it”

Deputy Chief, Bubba Buckberry

After speaking with another officer and reviewing AJ’s criminal record, it showed that he had at least 7 charges against him of aggressive crimes specifically towards police officers. These included attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.  Will this prison sentence truly change AJ? Will he be a reformed man and start leading the life of a good citizen? Only time will tell.

The court date for this appeal has not been set yet, but this article will be updated once a date has been given.
