Officer Down – RIP Jordan Reads

On July 12th, Mission Row Police Department (MRPD) and Blaine County Sheriff Office received a report of a stolen helicopter which landed in front of Pink Cage. There were two police units on scene to determine what was going on and in the process, the suspects in the helicopter took an officer, Jordan Reads, as the hostage and flew away north of Los Santos. Both MRPD and BCSO tried to chase the helicopter but lost track of it in the mountains.

Given the seriousness of the situation as an officer was kidnapped, MRPD and BCSO started a search and rescue operation for Officer Jordan Reads. Around that time, they received a panic alarm that was triggered at Blaine Country Savings bank in Paleto Bay. BCSO responded to the alarm quickly and showed up at the scene with ground units as well as an air unit. The suspects in the bank robbery were identified as MRPD ex-captain Freddy Williams, Antonia Mugi, and Rio Chang..

While negotiating with the bank robbery suspects, the officers realized that they are the same people who kidnapped Officer Jordan Reads earlier that day. The robbery suspects used Officer Jordan Reads as hostage to flee the scene. As soon as the officers made sure that the hostage is safe, they opened fire on the suspects before they could run away. During the shoot out, all three suspects were shot down and taken into custody. Upon searching them, heavy amount of drugs, and illegal weapons were found. All three suspects were convicted of multiple felony charges and were sent to jail.

After the shoot out, the Officers felt that there was something wrong with Officer Jordan Reads and that he may have been forced to take drugs. He was quickly taken to Pillbox Medical for further treatment but his health worsened and was later pronounced dead that day due to drug overdose.

This is a devastating news for the community as we lose a fine officer like Jordan Reads. He served the citizens of Los Santos bravely and honorably and gave his life doing so. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends in this difficult times.
